HOW DO WE BUILD UP ENERGY AND WARMTH?
How do we pass it on – and how can we protect our energy? These questions hovered in the MA-CoDE Studio at the HfMDK on the evening of March 8, 2023. Alessandra Corti took the donors of the Warm Up! relief fund on a moving journey (their donations provided financial aid for around 210 students) and gave insights into her everyday life as a dance teacher. The young artist developed a half-hour “warm-up program” exclusively for this evening, in which participation was expressly permitted.
At Let’s Move!, Alessandra gave free rein to her desire to inspire others to move. Accompanied by music, the participants joined her in moving gently from one foot to the other. “We don’t want to fall asleep, we want to wake up,” said Alessandra, explaining the aim of the half-hour session. Finding rhythm, feeling the space, being inspired by the other bodies in the room – the movement journey promised to be a complete success. A relaxed atmosphere gradually developed in the practice room and a real joy in the individual movements, even if they were small at first. Alessandra’s metaphorical comparison with a flame, which the participants were asked to imagine in their mind’s eye, was very fitting. Because the energy generated by the very diverse dancers pulsated just as strongly as a small fire would – and is a beautiful reminder not to let the inner fire go out even in dark or sad moments.
